Almost perfect: car video

I ordered this for my 19 Ford Fusion Energi because my new car came with wireless CarPlay and I like it enough to have it in both cars. The installation is very easy. , simply plug your device into your car's USB port. It comes with velcro stickers to stick it anywhere. I put mine in the recess where the USB ports are at the top so that an open USB port is available in case I still want to plug my phone in for charging. Once your phone is paired with the adapter, it will start automatically. on when you start the car. A new screen comes up and it takes about a minute to connect, but it takes just as long in my new car to get native wireless CarPlay up and running. I was very happy with it and everything worked perfectly, including the steering. wheel control. The touchscreen was as responsive as a wired connection. This morning I tried it for the first time during a one hour commute. I noticed some issues with it - a couple of times it just hung. The audio stopped playing and the screen was unresponsive. Disabling and reinstalling the key restored the work, but I don't want to bother with it. When I got to work I updated the firmware. To do this, type "192.168.50.2" into your iPhone's browser while it's connected to the adapter and it will navigate to the adapter's web interface. Oddly enough, this screen said the firmware was up to date, but when I clicked the update button, the new version was found. The update will take a few minutes and the phone will download the new firmware and then transfer it to the adapter. It's very simple and intuitive, and you can see the LED on the adapter flashing during this process. It normally flashes green during operation, but changes to flashing red and green when the fire is loaded. It will switch to a different blinking pattern after the file is downloaded and updated, then it will reboot and blink green again as it boots back up. There were some graphical glitches on the screen after the update was completed with some screens. distorted. I unplugged the adapter and plugged it back in and the display was correct again. On my one-hour drive home, it didn't freeze with the new firmware, but there were occasional short sound interruptions. It seemed to be happening about every 30 seconds, so I got moving and turned on the stopwatch on my phone to try and time the falls. It worked fine for a few minutes, so I figured it might "fix" itself. While waiting for a traffic light, it happened again and I realized that the breakdowns only happened when the car was stationary. While driving, the car was not faulty. I remembered that previous freezes on the old firmware also occurred while the car was parked. The freeze behavior has been fixed in the new firmware, and it looks like the manufacturer is actively working on updates as my "old" firmware was still pretty. youngest. The same website you use to update firmware also provides a way to report problems, so I'm sure this will be fixed in the future. It could be something that only affects certain cars. Overall I'm happy with it and if they can fix the audio glitches I would consider it a 5 star item. Crossed fingers!
