very difficult to work with

I hate these hooks. In my opinion, they have many problems. The first problem is color/size markings. There are twelve hooks in six colors, the size of which is stamped on the plastic of the hook. I found it almost impossible to read the measurements on the hooks (I used my magnifying glasses and the hook was held directly under the light and I still had trouble figuring out the size). Then, to complicate things, you get two hooks of each of the six colors, and instead of spreading those colors out, they make the two closest-to-size hooks the same color (i.e. size 6 and 6.5 in same color and size 4). and 9 have the same color). The next problem I found was that the plastic of the hook was very slippery and kept losing its grip. I've never had this problem with any crochet. Then I had a problem with the yarn staying on the needle, it kept slipping out. At first I thought I needed a bigger hook, but when I had the same problem after going up two sizes I took a closer look at the hook. I'm not sure if my photo shows you the problem clearly, but the slope/degree of the cut in the plastic is wrong. I'm no mathematician but it looks like the degree of angle is different than a regular hook and the cut in the plastic ends abruptly instead of having a slight curve. So the angle is wrong and the spot that should hold the thread is not held momentarily and the thread keeps slipping off. to the hook in the picture) the tube attached to the end of the hook is fully bent. Once bent, like bending a plastic drinking straw, the "seam" or "fold" now remained permanently in the tube, which clung to the yarn. At this point I gave up. I didn't want to pay a lot as I don't do much Tunisian crochet and my longer metal afghan hooks were big enough for all previous projects. But I wanted to make a whole afghan, so I needed longer needles and bought the cheapest I could find. Lesson repeated, you get what you pay for.
