I was hesitant to buy a solid tire. The Hover1 Pioneer doesn't have the suspension and setup nightmare stories you hear. Installation - I thought it would be more difficult. I used about 1 tablespoon of dish soap, 1 regular screwdriver for leverage, a mat, gloves with decent dexterity, and 2 fairly large zip ties to hold the tire in place. Microwave the hoop for 1 minute on each side, then 30 seconds on each side. It smells light, but for me it is light. It's really hot so wear gloves. I used baseball gloves.2. Add some water to your dish soap, but it should remain oily. Lay the rim on the floor with the disc facing up. Make sure the tire rotates in the right direction. Apply soap liberally to the edge of the tire where the rim meets the tire. Only need to make one side.3. Align the tire and use zip ties (through the rim at the smallest hole) and tighten. The tire should be as close to the track as possible. I didn't have to be too tight. This will prevent the tire from moving a lot.4. With the wheel on the ground, press down on the tire with your weight. It literally hit me straight.5. Once the tire is seated on the wheel, insert a screwdriver through the holes in the tire and adjust slightly to center the tire on the wheel. Performance - A solid tire is firmer and the compound is firmer too. That means the ride will be a bit harder. And you should avoid slippery spots like wet manhole covers. I definitely have a better feel for the road. It's not terrible, however, and it's probably worth changing if you need to. I would like to say that my scooter feels a little faster. I know there are reviews that say it was slower. I think they either mounted the tire the wrong way round or misaligned the disc brake. I think I'll leave the front tire pneumatic (inflated with air), but I'm glad I did the rear.
