Probably the best investment for a novice brewer for reasons that aren't obvious. Obviously it can be used to prepare an extract on the stove. But I use it to heat wash water for grain brewing. THEN I use it as a fermentation bucket! I don't care about an airtight lid clamp and airlock. The lid fits well and looks like a gate. Easy access to sample brew or dry hops etc. Very easy to clean and sanitize. The fact that it's a thin metal makes it easy to carry around 6 liters of beer! The grips were fine, even with the small welds they have. I have two of these and make 10 gallon batches. I know this is not "traditional" practice. But I've had great success with it. The size is perfect for fermenting with plenty of room for the fritters.
