Review on Gates TCK286 Timing Belt Component by Cee Pouncy

According to my mechanic, Gates is a good company and also an OEM for some car manufacturers. He pays particular attention to the parts he builds for his customers, so he knows that sometimes cheaper doesn't always mean better, and he also knows the quality of the manufacturer. He noted it was China but we checked everything (bearing pulley/play, belt consistency etc) and it appears to be virtually identical to the OEM Honda parts we took out (except in new condition of course) . Bearings were smooth, belt was stiff but feel was the same minus the dirt, fit and finish was fine. So you're in business and the truck is great again, 10-2% cheaper than the dealer. Note that there are "technical details" when you say "made in ------". My understanding is that the label may come from the final assembly point, so many parts may be made in China, but if the final assembly was made in the US or elsewhere then it may be marked as such. So, knowing that almost everything is made in China these days, we physically checked all the parts and made sure they felt good.
