. has CKD and this food is fairly low in phosphorus

My 18 year old cat has CKD and this food is quite low in phosphorus. I would prefer to only feed him wet food but he loves to lick (rather than bite) and has difficulty eating his daily wet food. When he started losing too much weight I gave up and started supplementing his diet with this kibble. So far, so good. Between his weekly IVs, a small amount of Lactulose (purchased from Dr Foster and Smith) and a small amount of Miralax in his wet food, he hasn't had any major constipation problems, which I'm so glad about. I know too much about cat poo and cat enemas at the moment and I was afraid that with the introduction of coarse food into his diet he would shed dry little stones. DO THE WASHING UP. I would even say that this food improved his bowel movements. . Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa We highly recommend trying this if you need to add some calories to your CKD kitten's diet. If your cat doesn't have CKD, you can afford a little more and your cat will eat it, but I highly recommend feeding only wet food. It is believed that most older kittens suffer from CKD because they are fed pellets that do not provide enough fluid for most of their lives. Without hydration, their kidneys pay the price in the long run and they end up on a special wet diet and/or need to be hydrated with daily/weekly IV fluids. it can get expensive and stressful. My cat's health is worth it and it keeps him healthy and happy. but it's still a stress that could have been avoided for both of us.
