Review on Hydraulic Battery Terminal Crimper Crimping by Jim Polacek

I was in dire need of a reliable crimping tool for my 2/0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 AWG wire terminals. It had a high rating so I ordered it. After a week of use I can say that I did not expect this. When crimping ferrules on power cables, it is extremely important to achieve a perfect cold weld (good crimp). Moving a lot of amps with bad crimps will backfire on you, trust me it will. First, the dies don't line up straight or even stay in place. I have to hold her, eyelet, cable and pump all at the same time all the time. recipe for disaster. This is a two person operation to make it work properly. Next problem: Metric matrices don't work with AWG sizes. Some sizes work better than others. Some of the translated sizes don't work at all. Crimp and the bar will fall off. Those two issues alone are enough to give this thing 3 stars. If the dies were standard AWG sizes and stayed in place it would have received 5 stars. The crimping tool itself and the hydraulic mechanism are great. Very little value here, 3 stars from me. I'm seriously considering returning it.
