Perfect for C-Taps Black 70, Green 50, Brown 35.

I'm an electrician and I splice C-Taps a lot. They work great once you figure out which die goes with which C-Tap color works. Here's what we use: 70 for black, 50 for green, 35 for brown. This allows one person to splice outdoor lighting boxes with ease. Remember that the tap hole c must always face the tool hole. Check out the pictures to see how to do it. I was wondering if I could use it for this application on CTaps, but after two little trials and errors we figured it out. You'll get the…

It's okay, the metric stamps don't match.

It's okay, the metric dies don't match AWG at all. The only one that worked well was for #6 AWG. Same problems as everyone else. The jaw magnet closer to the handle is loose and falls out with every change. The dies themselves aren't very reliable and will move a bit before pressure is applied to them, so you need to keep them centered. The grip does not move very freely when inflated, it feels almost gritty. I don't expect it to last very long. It helped me with my project, made about a dozen…

Excellent wire crimp tool

I love this Hyclat hydraulic wire crimp tool. After years of struggling with various tools, including driving in ferrules with a crimping tool and a hammer, I finally found the perfect solution. Using a good selection of dies, I've crimped wires from 4 gauge AWG with a #25 die to 0 gauge AWG with a #35 die, making battery cables for my solar assembly with excellent results. It took a few times to find a technician to secure the tip and wire in the tool while I pumped the pen. So I decided to…

Metric dies cannot reliably crimp AWG wire and the crimp size is

Pros: Price, great for casual users, decent body, good die selection. Cons: Metric chips are not compatible with AWG wiring used in the US. If metric cable and spade lugs were readily available in the US, this would be a pretty good tool. But that's not the case. Looking at the chart that came with the tool, I see that the metric dies recommended for AWG sizes are larger than the actual AWG size, resulting in a potentially weak crimp. In general, free bending = more resistance, more resistance…

Suitable for different wire gauges.

I used this crimping tool to crimp 4 AWG, 8 AWG and 10 AWG terminals and Anderson connectors. It has delivered every time and I've been able to make great connections without having to re-crimp or lose connectors. The crimping tool is included and the guide is handy and necessary to know what size die is needed for different wire sizes. The tool could have been a little more balanced to make it easier for one person to get the job done. I don't find it difficult to use when working with wiring…

Not the best in truth

I was in dire need of a reliable crimping tool for my 2/0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 AWG wire terminals. It had a high rating so I ordered it. After a week of use I can say that I did not expect this. When crimping ferrules on power cables, it is extremely important to achieve a perfect cold weld (good crimp). Moving a lot of amps with bad crimps will backfire on you, trust me it will. First, the dies don't line up straight or even stay in place. I have to hold her, eyelet, cable and pump all at the same…
