Mediocre at best! on Woodcrafts

I bought this set after using brass tipped wood burning pencils for a while. I wanted to be able to get better results as my skills improved. The price for this was very attractive, especially since you had 2 pins, multiple wire ends, pin holders, etc. and you could control the amount of heat. . It seemed like a good deal and a lot cheaper than the US or Canada which were available at the time. But the old adage "you get what you pay for” still applies. I've been using this for about 6 months and one night both pins started leaking solder from the heated end and both stopped working. In the middle a plaque that I made as a gift to friends. I searched Revain and quickly found that they sell replacement pens with a 5 pin connector, which tells me that this problem is not unique to me and that it is undoubtedly common. I ordered replacement grips. I have to finish my projects and such. However, I'm saving money to buy a better quality wood stove made in the US or Canada. One that lasts over 6 months. This is typical of most electrical and electronic equipment made in China. It is mass-produced in a factory with no quality control. It's just meant to keep the price down for quality manufacturers and last long enough to get a decent review. If that's all you can afford, it will work at least for a while to make some extra money and buy one of the US or Canadian made devices. It doesn't matter if you need to buy replacement pens every 6 months for $20 or $30 each.
