Review on πŸšͺ MM271 Automatic Gate Opener by Mighty Mule - Single, Black by Shane Ryder

Ignore the instruction manual.

Previous Mighty Mule Gate Openers used an 18VAC transformer. In fact, the user manual for the MM271 states that the output of the transformer is 18-22 VAC. Imagine my surprise when I measured the transformer output voltage as 40VAC. I called tech support and after 30 minutes of waiting with horrible repetitive music (?) spoke to the helpful phone person. He agreed the output should be 18VAC and arranged for a replacement and RA to be sent. The new transformer had the same readings (40 VAC) as the first. Let's get back to the phone and the mandatory 30-minute holds. This time I found that the output of the transformer should be 18V DC not AC and that the user manual was wrong (as was the original technologist answer). I changed the voltmeter settings and both transformers read 18V DC. I've been told I can keep the extra transformer, but I will never get the time spent back.

Pros
  • Ideal for all types of gates including: tubular, mesh, panel, vinyl and timber gates.
Cons
  • Negative Result Present
