At last, I found the perfect PJs for me. I ordered extra large, which is perfect for my 38 - 39 waist. It does have a band but does not feel tight, just snug enough to stay in place without having to tighten the rope with a knot. I don't like heavy weight or even medium weight in PJs, as we are in a moderate temp area of the US. These are more like cotton T shirt thin and very smooth feel on the skin. One feature that I really like - is that they look enough like lightweight exercise pants that they are wearable outside the house without looking like PJs.
