Installing a 3.5" drive couldn't be easier and I got it working right away. I get 250MB/s write speed on a 10TB Seagate hard drive. Make sure your computer has the correct USB 3.1 Gen 2 input. This case originally plugged into a docking station that was USB 3.0 only and I was getting speeds of 40MB/s. Direct connection to the computer solved this problem. It has a useful (but too bright!) blue display. The case doesn't dampen the drive noise very much, so you can hear it rattling. The body is aluminum and looks well built. As already mentioned, there is no fan for cooling the disk in this case. Heat can cause drive failures, so that's a problem. The vertical position is probably best for heat dissipation. I wouldn't put things on top of each other. I've only used it very intensively for one day so far.
