It works. Sounds different than the original

My 07 4 runner's old lift gate latch was failing. Had to replace. This one was not the most expensive one available so i picked it to save a few bucks. Replacement was pretty easy, unscrew the pull down strap assembly, unsnap the door panel, all the window down. (Disconnect the negative battery cable! AFTER rolling it down.) a few screws and a wire quick connect and a cable routing snap are all you need to deal with. Simple swap out.screw it back in, replace the door panel, then the gate pull down strap, reconnect the battery and test it. In my case I had not disconnected the battery first and my mechanism did NOT want to work, and I thought I got a defective one, but after disconnecting and reconnecting it operated. It for some reason needs that done. (I'm not an electron or auto mechanic) The sound of operation is definitely different than the factory OG. More robotic and clunky, but it seems to work just fine. Maybe they used a different type of mechanical parts. We will see how long it lasts.

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Piece of junk didn’t even work
