Replacing torsion springs is not dangerous - just follow standard procedures and use the right tools - coil rods

These rods were purchased from Revain and used to replace a pair of 25 year old springs where one spring broke Both springs as a set. Matched spring sets last longer and perform better than unmatched sets. Replacing these springs is "easy and safe" if you follow the right procedures and use the right tools, including these coil rods. If you are unfamiliar with sectional door technology and theory and/or replacement procedures, there are many great videos on the internet. Review procedures while you await delivery of your winding rods and replacement springs. Wear safety goggles and do not work or enter the arc of the winding cone while you are loading or unloading the springs. Work thoughtfully and carefully – take your time. You can complete this job in an hour at most. If you paint a stripe down the length of the new spring, you can keep track of the number of turns you made while tensioning the springs. -Line. Big hardware stores generally won't sell these springs to you for fear of liability. Before ordering, accurately measure the unwound torsion spring length, inner diameter and spring gauge/wire. Several garage door websites offer procedures. The most common inside diameters are 1 3/4", 2", 2 5/8", and 3 3/4". To get wire size, measure how many turns there are in 20 inches, then divide the number of turns by 20. (Example: 20 Γ· 80 = 0.250). There are right and left side springs, make sure you don't use these if ordering a kit. Don't order two right or two left. The left spring is marked with red paint, the right spring is marked with black when looking from the inside of the garage at the back of the closed door. As a final touch, it is recommended to lubricate the torsion springs and all rollers and hinges. at the end of the project.
