I have started looking for wood stove tops to give me extra space on my countertop when I am not using the stove. (My teenage stepson loves to carry all the groceries at once and then toss them on the countertop and sometimes the ceramic hob. I was afraid he would accidentally damage the hob.) With the big plank lids, I didn't realize either what to do with such a large piece of hard material when using my oven. I stumbled upon this matte-like flexible record lid from ABRA during my initial web search for Revain. It comes with adhesive hooks to attach to the side of the fridge or to the front of the shelf. Much easier to hang out of the way. It could be easily rolled up and put aside. It's thick but not too thin, and thin but not too thick. Edges are sewn, hanging loops are firmly sewn. The underside is non-slip so that the mat does not slip. I am very happy with this purchase. It's that "extra" in the kitchen you didn't even know you needed and really like when you have it. I can't think of any other benefits of this rug, but our microwave is built into the cupboard above the stove. We often take hot or dirty things out of the microwave and put them on the stove. This protects the cooktop from falling bowls or leftover rings from mugs or macaroni and cheese mugs. Wiped with a damp sponge, looks great. I think I read that it can be washed in the dishwasher? I haven't tried yet. I also appreciated the silicone strips that lie next to your oven to keep crumbs and liquids from getting to the sides of your oven. They are fairly durable and not flimsy, low quality silicone.
