Good result, labor intensive installation

I'm not new to DIY projects and this seems easy at first. I wanted both screws to be in the stud so I had to find the edges and screw them in at an angle. One of the included screws broke while screwing it in, so I had to loosen it by hand. I don't have a large enough drill press, so I had to drill 1/2" holes 8" deep in the maple with hand tools with precision, and it wasn't easy. Finally I cut grooves on the back of the shelf to insert the brackets and allow the shelf to sit flush with the wall. It's all doable, but don't think it's a two-hour project.
