These sewing grooves came in a small plastic bag with no markings which could give the impression that they are cheap and do not work. Contrary to the first impression, they appear to be very well made. Each tool is constructed from a strong piece of steel, heavy enough to inspire confidence in its strength, yet small and light for extended use. The large tool is big enough to be held like a pencil, while the smaller one doesn't quite reach. When used as a freehand flute, both make a nice clean cut that follows a smooth path with ease. They make a good, even cut of the desired width. A V-shaped incision appears wider than a U-shaped one. See picture for comparison. This might be personal preference, but I wouldn't recommend using it as a bevel tool. I chose an L-shaped bevel because the top layer of leather is softer and easier to cut than a hard core. that's not what they're trying to be. They just do what they're supposed to and cut well. I will update this review if I ever run into any durability issues or premature cutting tool wear.
