Here's how we'll park our flying cars in the future

This is a great product that cleverly solves an annoying problem. For years I kept stepping back a few inches before crashing the front of my Grand Prix onto the concrete steps in front of my garage. I don't plan on hanging exercise equipment from the ceiling, and the flashing stop sign I got at the flea market broke after knocking it over and over again. The appeal of this laser pointer was that it was more accurate and less intrusive than other devices (a traffic light icon on the wall is almost as bad as hanging exercise equipment). Well, it's precise and not intrusive. I have a white model with two lasers and an additional LED light. I took another reviewer's advice and installed a combo socket/lightbulb in the door lock. The laser pointer only lights up if the door has recently been opened or closed. (If you're doing this, you'll probably want to use a 100-watt CFL lightbulb, as that can result in the bulb pressing against the plastic surface, and my goodness, those 100-watt lightbulbs get hot! Even LED lightbulbs ) I have a white extension. The laser unit cable and white power cord are attached to the ceiling, and the laser unit itself is above the walkway. (Remember to put it where you can reach it with the cars in the garage). Everything goes well with the white ceiling. I was concerned that the laser beam would be difficult to see when attempting to park. No problem. What is difficult is adaptation. I have a very small garage with about a foot of wiggle room before either backing the trail or hitting the car with the garage door. About the same or less from side to side if I want to open doors from both sides. So I tried to get both cars about an inch into the area to really get an accurate parking spot. It was quite difficult to do this. Lasers use a ball joint connection, but to move the point an inch you have to push it about five and hope it goes back to where you want it. So if you want to be more accurate than about 3 inches, be prepared to be sloppy. This turned out to be my biggest problem. I will say that the single beam version, which doesn't seem to have any lateral adjustment, looks like a headache. The reference point on your vehicle may not match the vertical line that the beam can reach. So I would get a double bar even if I only had one car. My other complaint is about the LED light. There is practically no price difference, so I decided to take it. Well, imagine one of those really cheap LED flashlights (dim) attached to your ceiling. The bluish light looks really cheap when you have real light bulbs on at the same time, and since it has to be mounted at the front of your garage, it probably won't illuminate a dark corner of the garage. It's also weird that they give you double sided tape that can't be used in a ceiling mount and at the same time the LED light can't be turned off which would really mess up wall mounting. I suspect the fact that it's a motion activated light might make it useful for someone but not me as it only turns on when the opener light is already on. I haven't had the issues that other people describe in regards to the fast shutdown. In fact, I felt like it was impossible to see it off because the motion sensor picked up my movement. I have no idea how it was possible to move the car underneath without triggering the motion sensor. But if you look, you'll see that some of these reviews are pretty old. For me, little things don't stand in the way of a full recommendation. Chris gives MAXSA Dual Laser Park Right in White 4 stars.
