Review on 🔪 Cali Valley Sharpening Stone – Supreme Blade Restoration by James Townsend

The only reason it's 1 star less is because the grit characteristics don't compare to anything I've been able to find. They really should have a scale somewhere. I just decided to buy and see what happens. It's a really good kit though. Well, maybe I missed something somewhere, but 1000 grit is actually more like 100 grit compared to sandpaper. The 6000 grit is more like a 280 grit. I started sharpening the chisel and saw a huge rough surface starting with the flat side of the chisel on the 1000 grit side. When I got to the 6000 grit side, wasn't much better. I actually had to use a new piece of 400 grit sandpaper from 3M to "smooth out" the side of the stone with 6000 grit before moving on to finer sandpaper to bring it back to a usable condition. I'll save it for starting and restoring new bevels and the like, but it's not for precision woodcutters and planers.
