Review on Tripp Lite PR20 Supply Output by David Hansen

When I first turned on the PR20, sparks came out of the vents. The wire from the 120VAC input to the transformer has a short to the case. I repaired the bare wire with heat shrink tubing and the PR20 worked. When powered up, the PR20 emits a continuous audible 60Hz hum that can be heard at least 10 feet away. centimeters behind the case back. A safer alternative would be an insulated connector pin. On a positive note, the PR20 is still working after six months of continuous use. However, given the design and finish flaws noted above, I would only buy another PR20 if there were no other alternatives. I give the PR20 two stars also because there are inferior power supplies on the market.
