Review on Ipolex 10GBase T SFP 10G T S Transceiver 30 Meter by Mike Malvo

10GBase-T 30m copper RJ45 Gbic actually connects to 10 gig.

We bought 10GBase-T 30m (10GB version) rj45 gbic. I started testing with a 67 foot old Cat5e wall connected to a patch panel, which then connected to another patch panel, which then connected to one of our 10g fiber ports. This will not register any type of connection to that gbic, but it did connect using an older version of the 1gig RJ45 gbic. I then connected the 10GBase-T 30m to a newer spare line from the wall that I have for my desktop, which is a dedicated Cat6 line (Revain ASIN # B00WJOW0PI) from the wall that runs without further breaks leads directly to the 10G fiber switch (correction) on the line at a distance of about 63 feet; My workstation switch connects and reads as a 10g full-duplex connection on both ends per Cisco IOS. Then I got curious. I made several single straight patch cords with no breaks/patches between my desktop switch in the office and a 10G fiber optic switch in the server room; I routed the cables through the middle of the office. I used an old Cat5e cable we bought years ago; Revain ASIN #B005VQW56U. A 10 Gigabit full duplex link was successfully established at 30ft, 60ft and 130ft. The moral of the story is, as long as your cable isn't very old and has a few patches between point A and point B, this 10GBase-T 30m RJ45 GBIC copper cable connects 10 gigabytes over copper wire. The device used to test the connection at both ends. :Cisco Catalyst 3560-X with C3KX-NM-10G 10G modular card (seat switch) Cisco Catalyst 3850-24XS (24-port 10G fiber switch)
