I bought this to empirically determine the performance of my water softener. I wanted to make sure it only regenerated when I reached capacity, so I checked the hardness every morning. However, if the hardness slowly increases from 0 to e.g. B. 3-5 GPG increases, this is difficult to see by comparing the color with the scale shown on the back. If you compare, then on the back it looks like 2-3 different patterns. So when we noticed that the water wasn't THAT soft anymore, I started the regeneration manually and when I compared the strips submerged in water before and after the regeneration, I clearly saw that they were different. But only one bar looks like 0, 3 and 5. So if you want to test the performance of your water softener, have some water ready right after regeneration and always compare the two bars as the comparison with the scale on the back is VERY is approximately.
