Compelling evidence is cheap peace of mind.

Just received the package. I opened it up, read the instructions, and tried running water from the kitchen sink faucet. I compared the stripe to the color chart. It was in the range of 0 to 40 ppm, causing practically no color change. The packaging says "very soft". We have well water with a pretty good purification system. I wanted to make sure the strips worked, so I took a cup of water straight from the fountain. The test strip reads 425 to 1000ppm, which is marked "very hard" on the…

I bought this to empirically determine the performance of my water softener. I wanted to make sure it only regenerated when I reached capacity, so I checked the hardness every morning. However, if the hardness slowly increases from 0 to e.g. B. 3-5 GPG increases, this is difficult to see by comparing the color with the scale shown on the back. If you compare, then on the back it looks like 2-3 different patterns. So when we noticed that the water wasn't THAT soft anymore, I started the…

Strange Dual Colors: Lab Supplies

I know I have hard water, 180ppm. My plumber checked it and gave me a number like 11 GPG (same). BUT I also know that with all the rain we've had, the test results can change. Fingers crossed I received this kit to re-test. The results were a bit strange: a 180 square turned out to be 2 shades! I read the darker shade as 180 and ignored the lighter one. I don't know if the 2 shades mean that the hardness is a little less than 180 or if it's just a coincidence. I think it's close enough. It's…
