As already mentioned, the protective film was punched incorrectly. Luckily, I had already seen the reviews and edited the film to make sure I didn't have the reported tearing issues. The rest of the installation didn't go much smoother, though: the holes didn't line up with the car, and no push-and-pull could fix the problem. I ended up having to redrill the holes in the valves to have a chance of aligning them. Luckily, the bolts on the car come with large washers. Should have been easier to install but I guess that's why they're cheap.
