Still working two months later - no difference from $250 OEM version

Factory installed door openers often fail on the 3rd gen Prius c-line and Toyota bumps the price up up to $250. for this part. The certified dealer will then charge for two hours of service, bringing your repair bill to $400-$500. Thanks to this part on the Revain, I was able to replace it for $40 and an hour's work. I don't care where these parts come from, whether they're remanufactured OEM parts or aftermarket knockoffs. They perform a very simple task: mechanically locking the door and opening the door latch. And they do it just as well as a $250 part. The hardest part of the install was finding Torx 20-30 bits. Lowe only had one set with him. In fact you don't even need an extension handle or drill to remove the door, I did it by hand with a regular screwdriver and a T20. Some patience was also required to align the door panel holders, which can be reused if the door panel is carefully removed. Overall, I am very satisfied with the fair price for this part. I would say anyone with a basic set of tools, access to YouTube/Google and enough patience/dexterity can easily replace one of these themselves and save $500. If it fails sooner I'll update my review, but even if it fails in a few years I'll still save money.
