I've been trying for a long time to decide what I want from the monitor. I replaced an HP ZR24w with a 16:10 aspect ratio (1920x1200) that I had had for a while and really liked it. I finally narrowed it down to a 27-inch 1440p or 34-inch ultra-wide monitor, as everyone agreed that a 27-inch screen is too small for 4K — at least with Windows 7. After a long time Arguing and looking at the specs, I settled on the U3417W and I wasn't disappointed! Ultimately, I needed screen real estate, which is why I liked my previous 16:10 AR monitor - and this model has a lot of them! My biggest concern was that the curve on the screen will end up being a useless design concept that detracts from the picture quality, but I found that you get used to it very quickly and using the monitor makes for a pretty immersive experience. Readability for text, video, gaming, multitasking, etc. Build quality is also very good, which is another reason I picked it out of some of the less expensive 34 ultra-wide options, and the display and stand feel great robust and at the level you would expect from a monitor in this price range. At this point I am fully convinced and do not regret having spent money on it.
