Very easy to install compared to a 4 piece kit - worth a few bucks more. Sealant is not required. Grab a flat head screwdriver before rolling under the car. Once the mounting surfaces on the pan and underside of the motor are *thoroughly* clean, screw the four plastic pegs into the large screw holes in the corners. Hand tightening is fine and they don't need to be screwed in all the way, just deep enough to be secure. Slide the gasket over the pins and they will hold them in place while you install the pan. Slide the pan over the pins and they will both hold when you tighten the first few screws. Screw in the studs on almost all four corners and the pins can be removed - you'll need that screwdriver as the stand itself now makes it difficult to unscrew the pins by hand. Start by tightening all the screws, then gradually tighten them in a zigzag/alternating pattern by turning them several times. On the Ford 289, the smaller bolts require 7-9 pounds and the four larger bolts require 9-11 pounds. I used a torque wrench, but an online forum suggested using the socket on a straight extension, with no ratchet or any handle, and when they're all finger tight with just an extension, add a ratchet and tighten all tight. a bit more. It doesn't take much effort to get a good seal, and it doesn't take too much tightening to deform that seal to the point where it leaks on you.
