Decent cold air intake for the price although there are some caveats

I bought this air intake to prepare for tuning my 2009 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi. I already have a Cat Back Flowmaster exhaust and wanted the engine to be able to draw in more air as well. I don't notice any increase in mileage, although the sound of the truck is a little louder than usual. Once I add the tuner to the truck I think I will see some benefits in the HP/Torque/MPG aspect. For the price this air intake fits, but as others have mentioned there are some issues. 1. The included clips are complete crap. Not for style, but because the barrel's nuts and bolts are weak metal and will come loose if you try to apply pressure to create a good seal. I would recommend buying 4-5 clamps and/or finding a variety of bolts/barrel nuts at your local hardware store to match these clamps. where your new filter is located has fairly large holes where it attaches to the standard inlet box. I wish they were smaller but for the price I can use black tape to seal air leaks. Note: Scepter and other brands have the same air leaks in these areas. 3. The new crankcase ventilation hose that came with this air intake is not approved or is not the correct length (alone). I saved most of the plastic pipe by cutting it right where it is under the engine shield and then clipping the hose onto the plastic hose for the last eight inches to the pipe. This worked very well and there are no kinks in the line. One more note. If your truck has mileage I would buy an IAT sensor when cleaning up to track this trick. For the rest of my life I couldn't get my IAT sensor out of the stock intake manifold and ended up with the housing cracking. Luckily I'm very good with wiring and connected it to the wiring harness without a connector for now, but another IAT was ordered. There are different IAT sensors depending on the year your truck was built. Unfortunately, this can be difficult to test without removing the sensor from the intake manifold. Pre-2009 gauges don't have as many fork guides and also have a weird tail sticking out of them.
