Review on Cos2Be Medieval Priest Monk Robe-Hooded Cap Cloak by Daniel Mettler

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Horribly designed; shoulder seams not equal.

In all fairness, the incident with the superglue cannot be blamed on the makers of this robe. That might be the most positive thing I have to say. If you’re exactly the size you want to order, this is an okay robe for a monk’s costume. It comes in two pieces, the robe and the cowl. However, for $45, the quality should be much better.I ordered a XL for my brother, but the shoulders weren’t wide enough for him; I sent that back and got the XXL, thinking I could just hem it. However, when hemming something, it helps tremendously if all seams are equal on both sides of the midline. For example, if one shoulder seam from collar to sleeve is 5 inches, the other one should be 5 inches as well.NOT 6 inches. The material is also cheap polyester, which is the worst for both sewing and being in the sun. My brother felt like he was being roasted "like a pig on a spit” in the robe. Fortunately, I was able to sort of fix the sleeves (covering the different cuff seams with a leather lacing, which was where the superglue came in) and my brother still had a great time as a warrior monk at the Ren Faire. However, my advice is don’t buy this robe. For just a bit more money, you can get a much higher quality cotton robe. Higher quality, better comfort, no need to bother with shoulder seams of unequal length!

Pros
  • Comfortable enough to wear for extended periods of time
Cons
  • The fabric is too heavy, causing discomfort in warm weather settings
