I originally bought this for myself because I liked the idea of a drying mechanism to keep water out of the tube. However, if even a little water gets in there, the valve will block the air and you will have to blow to remove it. it just stops and you run out of air! It's very scary when you're ready to suck in air, but it's completely blocked. So my husband (who is like a fish in water) switched to me so I wouldn't panic in the open ocean and even he said he had some scary moments where he had to rip it out to get some air , to have enough air to empty the tube. But if you are not willing or unwilling to clean the valve, it can cause major problems both mentally and physically. So I do NOT recommend this to anyone who isn't a strong diver and even then your regular snorkel will work much better. Now I don't want to soak up water - but it's almost worse when NOT soaking up in open water.
