I got a bad one. The glass was cloudy inside. Even at the highest settings, a photo will not scan clearly. About every fifth scan it stopped in the middle of a scan. I had to turn it off and on again to get it working again. If he did what he had to do, he could be a great scanner. The software that comes with it is rubbish, use something else, I won't suggest a brand. There are great programs there. I don't think it was new, I had that feeling from the start. It just didn't seem properly packaged or clean. I was looking very closely at the scanner when I noticed spots on scans with the highest settings. Could never get it to 48 bits. Or good tiff files. The feature that starts scanning when you close the lid is really cool.
