Basic USB-C chargers that you can buy for car use just don't generate enough power to charge larger iPads like the iPad Pro to charge. I bought this to make sure I can do it and it's perfect. It allows me to charge my GoPro (which I use as a DVR) and my iPad Pro 12.9" at the same time and keep them charged too keep. If you want to keep something more charged, this is what you need. Also, I've used it with my 13" MacBook Pro, it will charge it while driving, but not as fast as a 65W charger. Still, it's not a bad choice, it just won't fully charge your MBP while in use load.
