My original closet plan called for a shelf on the right and a TV opening on the other side of the vertical wall. Thinking I would need room for cords, connectors, etc, I decided to drill a 3" hole, not realizing that my largest hole saw was a 2.5" hole saw - and thank goodness it was this purchase hard enough to find and the 3 inch saws were worse. very few eyelets with a hem on either side. Instructions are printed on the wall of the spout, where to cut at a certain distance. There were two "issues" with this product (not major issues as it still has a very high rating). ). The clamping fixture is about 1/4", so for the 3/4" board I had to cut the sleeve 1/2" instead of 3/4". Problem, except for the second "problem": The plastic isn't very strong and flexible enough, which made it difficult to cut with a hacksaw. When the saw was pushed, the plastic flexed so it took longer for the actual cut to begin because for long enough not only did the saw blade feel warm, but once started the saw cut through very easily. When the first cut was complete I found a 1/4 inch deviation. Again not a big deal but I had to make another cut and sure enough most of my pencil had just been cut off. Cut number two required a lot more care to keep my fingers out of the way of the hacksaw. I had two holes that size, one above the shelf and one below, so I had a second size socket. The third cut was a lot easier than the second and I can confirm that the 1/4" occupied by the tension fitting is standard. Easy to install and looks fantastic, especially for the price!
