Review on Garmin Legacy Hero Series: Marvel Captain 🦾 America Inspired Premium Smartwatch with Enhanced App Experience by Jason Peterson

After wanting it for months, I'm glad I finally bought it

I'm a huge Captain America fan, which was my main draw. I've wanted this watch for a long time but never pulled the trigger due to some concerns that others have written about and the high price. It's really just the Vivoactive 4 for $120 more so why buy this one I thought. After finally pulling the trigger (it really was a birthday present) I'm glad I have it. Here are some thoughts I have on the watch after 1 week: Coming from a Fitbit Versa that suddenly stopped working after 1.5 years. I loved it for its fitness/health tracking features. This watch has the same features (compared to the first Versa) and a much better app in my opinion. I really like the detail of the graphics as I'm a data geek. Back to my Fitbit stats: I'm not thrilled with the Fitbit app. I used to consider buying a Versa Sense, but I don't regret switching to Garmin. Initially, some comments about screen quality (pixelation) and brightness bothered me. I will say these are valid complaints as colors and clarity are a bit softer. However, after spending some time with the watch, I'm not as concerned as I was at first. I really like that they include a leather and silicone strap. The leather strap works well when I want the watch to look less casual and is reminiscent of the Captain America costume from the first film. The silicone strap is nice and comfortable and works much better when I'm active as it doesn't slip around my wrist like a leather strap. Finally, the battery life is not as good as I had hoped. I think Garmin says expect up to 7 days in smartwatch mode, but I'm not getting close. I changed the display settings and made some other changes to extend the battery life as suggested by Garmin but only around 2-3 days. Also, I don't have the watch with Wi-Fi (to sync music) or GPS, so I don't know why the battery life is half what it's advertised. This is my biggest disappointment, but I can live with that (for now). Basically I am satisfied with the watch.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
