There seem to be many articles on the internet stating that a K&N replacement air filter is at best barely effective in increasing horsepower and mileage and at worst contaminants can enter the engine and damage the MAF (mass air flow). ) Sensor with oil filter. Today I installed a K&N 33-2451 filter on my 2016 KIA Forte5 (6000 miles) with 2L GDI engine. Like several other Revain reviewers here who installed a K&N filter on their KIA/Hyundai, I noticed an immediate improvement in acceleration and throttle response. Also, the odometer on the dash showed a 3-5mpg increase over the 'stock' KIA air filter (which was still perfectly clean when I removed it). K&N published an article debunking the "myth" about the dangers of MAF oil, so I'm not particularly concerned about that.
