Review on Norpro 335 Nutmeg Grater by Felicia Gonzalez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works but is a little spooky

Hey, you get what you pay for, right? This product totally gets the job done, but if I were to do it again I'd spend a little more money for a grater I'm not afraid of. Like I said, she grinds nutmeg. Brilliant! If you only need a little nutmeg, you can sprinkle it directly on top of the eggnog - no problem. My biggest problem is that when I get about halfway through the nutmeg (however you want to say it), my fingers get closer to the grater and I start to get a little nervous. When the nutmeg is about a third its size, every time I run the nut across the grate I wiggle the tips of my pinky fingers to be SURE I have a good grip and my fingers aren't dragging - but after one or two more grids, I have 1/3 of the nut left and I'm afraid to continue. This leaves me with a bag full of 1/3 nutmeg and no easy (or hassle-free) way to use the remaining 1/3 of the nuts I ground. If I knew it was such a dilemma, I would choose a nutmeg grater that has a handle that allows you to twist and grind the nut in a way that doesn't put my fingers at risk. All in all, I'd rather pay a little more. Money not to strain for every half of the nut. Once I hit that halfway mark, stress somehow affects my appetite for eggnog and I just prefer not to deal with it. BUT, as I said, it rubs with nutmeg. It was a "colossal" prize. He's doing his job. But I wish he could do his job better.
