Review on 🚪 FS-1306 Door Closer: Grade 3 Spring Hydraulic Auto Door-Closer with Easy Installation – Silver Aluminium by John Munajj

I installed it on the back door of my house, a large wooden door that is quite heavy. As others have noted, once installed following the instructions provided, the closer worked very well, but opening the door became a monumental task. I no longer have any children in the house, but I highly doubt that my two youngest grandchildren (2 and 5 years old) will even be able to open the door. I was willing to live with that, but after reading some of the reviews I saw that the seller mentioned that if the door is too difficult to open, you can grab the gauntlet and turn it. I tried this and it improved a bit, but not perfect. The seller also mentioned that the shoe could be moved an inch further from the door hinge to solve the opening problem. I have attached two pictures. The first shows closer how I originally installed it, the second shows closer after moving it 1 inch to the left and flipping the shoe (my door is on the right). If you do both, the boot hand will likely be two inches to the left of what the instructions say. Now it's much easier to open. It still takes some effort, but it's acceptable. In the near future I will close the hole and apply paint. For those just beginning installation I would recommend that you add 1 inch to the instructions for where to mount the shoe (the instructions say about 8.4 inches from the door hinge). Then adjust the shoe to the recommended position and if the door is difficult to open, try flipping the shoe. Even where my door is, it only opens 90 degrees (and it still happens with a closer adjustment so), but if you have there is a door that needs to be opened further. Not sure if adding 1 inch will cause problems.
