Bought a red 12 cup gastrorag coffee maker. The color is gorgeous, but that's where the good news ends. Unpacking next to our current percolator (which still works - we bought a spare) the cheap quality was obvious. Gastrorag stainless steel is so thin it feels like plastic and I could bend it with my bare hands. We filled it with water and ran it through a cycle to see how it works. Compared to our other percolators, the inside edge/skirt of the lid is very flat/short and doesn't sit far enough to hold the lid securely. During brewing, the lid came off. We tried two brew cycles with the same results. This can be a real safety hazard and can result in severe burns. The materials in this percolator are cheap and fragile. We brew coffee in stainless steel percolators because coffee is brewed much hotter and tastes better. This poorly constructed, flimsy steel coffee pot is not only unsafe, I doubt it will make very hot coffee. This is a big disappointment. I'm sending it back.
