A promising non-plastic option. Big disappointment

Inaccurate dimensions. The perk turns off and heats up too soon. Directions are bad. My wife and I gave this thing so many chances that our rear window closed! While the construction is solid and comfortable to hold, it makes horrible coffee! If you follow the instructions, the water will turn yellowish-brown. When we found the measurement markings were off the marks by a few ounces, we kept trying and adjusting the grind coarseness and grind count. Even after nearly doubling the number of…

Good strong coffee

That's a good thing. I love the percolator. This is way better than the Faberware model I just scrapped. The Gastrorag runs smoothly (but not quietly) and takes about six minutes to brew four measured cups of coffee. This is slightly larger than other four cup percolators. The coffee is delicious and strong, and the keep-warm function with activity tracking is a nice touch. The red trim looks gorgeous, and the clear top lets you see the water seep in as it gets darker and bigger (I quote their…

Not good to the last drop.

Seriously, don't drink to the last drop or even the last quarter of a glass. Your mouth will be full of coffee grounds. I read the reviews before buying this and I saw people complaining about the coffee grounds. I should have listened! I assumed they ground their coffee too well. I put PURCHASED ground coffee in the coffee maker so I couldn't make a single cup of coffee without ground coffee. There is a clear flaw in the design of the filter. Don't buy this. you will not be happy ETA: I tried…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • It's ok

Bought a red 12 cup gastrorag coffee maker. The color is gorgeous, but that's where the good news ends. Unpacking next to our current percolator (which still works - we bought a spare) the cheap quality was obvious. Gastrorag stainless steel is so thin it feels like plastic and I could bend it with my bare hands. We filled it with water and ran it through a cycle to see how it works. Compared to our other percolators, the inside edge/skirt of the lid is very flat/short and doesn't sit far…

Fantastic little percolator!

My old Faberware coffee maker that I bought on sale about five years ago has completely burned out and it's time to look for a new one. I haven't been to many flea markets or estate sales this year due to Covid, so I haven't had the opportunity to replace it with another vintage perculator. After so many reviews of different percolators I was blown away to say the least. For the brands I usually lean towards, the reviews were either out of date or not very good at all. I was also looking for a…
