I've tried a few other types of kickstands that can be adjusted higher or lower (which always come loose) and mounted further back (which doesn't hold the bike also where it is mounted). This old school design is the best. It is important to know that if it is too long for your bike, it can easily be shortened with a hacksaw. It was too long for my children's bike and was easy to adjust. Simply place your bike on the curb so that the footpeg is hanging off the side of the curb in the "stand" position, tilt the bike to the desired angle, and then mark the footpeg at curb level. This is aluminum that can be easily cut, literally in 10 seconds.
