Review on πŸ“Ά Hawking Technology HW7ACW: Wireless-AC Multi-function Range Extender, Access Point, Bridge - Wall Plug by Nicholas Erickson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I really wanted them to work

update: after working with them for a few months I'm changing my rating from two stars to one because it just sucks! No matter what I do, both turn off randomly and there have been no firmware updates from the manufacturer. Don't waste your time or money if you ever find them for sale unless you need a cool doorstop. Original Review: Bought two, one for the front of the house and one for the back. They are connected to switches (one on the front and one on the back) that plug into the router. There were problems with one going offline all the time. I spoke to tech support and they said it sounded like a defect and wanted me to send it back but it was within the 30 day return period so I went back to Revain and got a new one. The other is now starting to shut down, but not as often. Restart helps for a week, and then falls off again. The replaced unit looks solid, but time will tell. For a device that's now failing, I can show it's connected and click on the management interface, but I can't get over it if I can connect at all, but I still have to restart my computer to get it connected Clear. They transfer data quickly when working. I have a Spectrum 100 down and 10 up and most of the time I'm very close to this wireless connection. I'll probably take a second unit for a refund, but I also tend to get other units and sell them "as is" on ebay. There are no logs to look at and try to figure out what the problem is and the web interface is very simplified. I have one in the front and one in the back of the house both on different channels on different bands but with the same SSID and PW and as I move from one end of the house to the other my devices switch. This is not a mesh network. designed, but all devices in the mesh network communicate with each other, and if you move away from one device and approach another, the connection will be disconnected/reconnected. My Android tablet and iPhone seem to move aggressively, so I don't really need them, and two of these cost about the same as a single mesh network device.
