As advertised on thin paper, similar to thin wax paper. Great for knife blades, the best 3000+ grit sandpaper I've found for the job leaves a very mirror-like finish. I use double sided tape to stick it to a flat surface, I only use pieces of wood that I know are flat. Yes, this creates the feel of a raised micro-bevel, but if you plan to use a leather strap you still need to do the raised micro-bevel. The edge gets so sharp that the phone book paper feels like it's falling apart instead of being cut into pieces, and the hairs on the arms soar in the air when trimmed clean.
