Review on πŸ”’ Secure Your Coupler with Trimax UMAX50 Premium Die-Cast Dual Purpose Coupler Lock by Christopher Clearfield

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If keeping your trailer is important to you, don't buy from the competition: buy this one.

Serious design for serious security. About three years ago I posted a negative review of the Reese's version of this device, a yellow metal scam that supposedly keeps a trailer safe. After 18 months of 3 Reese clutches failing (and 2 of their pin locks) I ended up at Revain looking for something better than what my local big store was offering and bought this unit. According to my review of the Reese device, this was in July 2014. I make a living towing a trailer, as does everyone I work with. It contains my inventory and living quarters. If it were stolen, I'd honestly be out of a job. When my trailer was new in 2012 I bought a Reese unit because I had heard of Reese. When the lock fell out within two months I returned it for a replacement. When it broke in half after colliding with my truck, I sent it back again to have it replaced. When the third one started sticking, I started buying another brand at Revain. Three and a half years later, this device is still securely locking my trailer. The keys still work. Part beaten and smashed. It sits in the back of my truck for weeks while my trailer tows. It gets stuck on my hitch for months when my trailer is idling. I smash into him, pocket him and he comes out unharmed. I live on the coast so the hitch is exposed to salty air, heavy dew and road corrosion. I've never serviced this thing other than a little WD-40. And it still does what I bought it for for almost the same price as that yellow branded junk. Please, if you have something worth protecting, don't waste your money on a scam token. Buy this item and don't look back.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
