I'm usually attracted to Old Farm decor but I really like this one. They are modern, almost Art Deco, with cool white instead of warm yellow light. The squares shine brightly, clearly and without glare. I hate moving lights that blind me when I get close. I set them up about two feet high and six feet apart. They bring light to the meter gauge. I approach them from the side, I pass them very close. I wish the motion detector was a little wider so they turn on a little quicker. not to see the way better, because that's what they're perfect for, but so I can see THEM glowing in front of me, they look so cool. what, thinking about it, I might see if I would set them to the "dim glow" option. There are three options on the switch (accessible without removing the cover.) 1) Off. 2) Motion, which turns on a bright light when motion is detected at night. 3) Dim glow and motion, which means the lights give off a dim glow all night and only shine brightly when motion is detected. I have set movement. Guess I'll set one of these on Dim Glow and see how much it drains battery life. I'm not sure I want them all dimmed because I don't want to draw the attention of people walking the streets at night. You don't have to say, "Hey, look! ' on a secluded path next to my garage. Another plus is that I can get into the battery compartment without tools. I can use my thumbnail to turn the set screw. I love it. I also like that the switch is accessible without having to remove anything. Although it's pretty big for that, I'll put one in my holdall to put in motel rooms. You can just turn it off for travel and then turn it on in the room. Ideal. Well, "ideal for motels" would be a small (golf ball sized) moving light that uses AAA batteries, doesn't blind me, and has an off/dimglowmotion/motion switch on the outside. know if they let water into the compartment. I assume "no leak" until they leak. I live in the USA, in the western part of Washington State, which is known for a very, very rainy climate. When they expire I will update this review and complain loudly. Haha! One more thing I like about them is that they are flat on the bottom and balanced enough that they can easily stand upright. We've used one on the picnic table at night. I liked that there were no annoying lights while I toasted the hot dog over the fire, but the table was courteously lit (no blinding hotspots) while I placed the fixin on the bun. There are three of these lights. You get three very nice moving lights with fresh batteries and hanging screws (and a plastic drywall thingy) for $9. That's a really good deal. I've ordered three more packs. that 9 more lights. I can barely wait for it, that the Dim Glow Motion light guides people down the path to the outhouse where we will be camping. You can also place some in the forest so they light up when animals approach. It would be fun. UPDATE: I still love these lights. They survived an absolute downpour without leaking. They emit useful light even when placed on the ground. They shed much more light than the above rating suggests. I think if they were mounted over two feet they would emit enough light to see a path ten feet in diameter. You are bright enough. Which is good for the trails, but not so good for a sleepy midnight tiptoe to the toilet at a motel. They are too bright for a quiet pastime in the tent. They are perfect, to mark the path to the outhouse, the steps of your RV, along the fence to spot intruders and at the gate so you can see the deadbolt. I haven't put any of these on DimGlow yet, so I can't report on them just yet. UPDATE 2: We have a storage unit the size of a garage for one car with no lights. We used a couple of them for 3 days 5 hours a day searching through crates in preparation for a flea market. It was the perfect solution. We could read the titles of the books and see that it was a carved obituary, grandfather's wood carving tools, mother's cones etc. Dim but good light for that too. The bats have persevered the whole time and are now lighting the way outside again. Very happy. The bats have persevered the whole time and are now lighting the way outside again. Very happy.
