I had SDS MAX (6.1 ft lb) and SDS Plus (2.2 ft lb) around 800 square feet removing Mexican tiles. I tried different combinations of bits and tools to see what worked best. I have found the 2" chisel from this collection with the SDS Max punch to be the best for removing tiles. I then used a 4 inch fine bait removal bit with an SDS plus punch to remove the fine bait. I have found that the smaller SDS Plus nozzle actually removes thin nozzles better than the larger 6" SDS Max nozzle. I believe this is because the SDS plus, while having less energy, has twice the frequency (5800bpm vs 2900bpm for SDS max). A higher frequency seems to capture subtlety better. With this combination, I was able to remove 800 square feet of tile and thin lay in about 13 hours (about 60 square feet per hour).
