This is a very high quality extension cord that claims to have some sort of surge protector. I can't comment on the effectiveness of the surge protector, but as a general purpose power strip it's very good. The cable, which is available in different lengths, is very thick and well made. The cable coating seems to last a long time and seems easy to clean even after a year of dust that has settled on it. The plugs themselves also look well designed as the plugs firmly grip whatever you put in them. A power button is also provided to turn the entire device on and off (with backlight). One of the nicest features of this cable, however, is the flat-head, low-gap, rotating plug: you can plug it into any outlet and it doesn't look like an ugly plug sticking straight out, and then you can rotate the plug. Connectors so you can orient the cable in any direction you want. I use mine in my work office where it really enhances the look of the outlet with these features. But some will want to use this behind large appliances with little backroom like refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc. This item is a little more expensive than some, but the higher quality of the device, along with these features, fully justifies those few extra bucks.
