Cano Scan can scan.

Great product for scanning old slides (only 4 at a time), negatives, prints, paper documents etc. I have scanned the negatives of prints and found it better to scan the negative. I have scanned hundreds of slides so far and am happy with the results. I've gotten lots of compliments on Flickr and Facebook for how amazing they look. There are several scanning modes that you may need to experiment with when scanning certain types of postcards, as well as newspaper or magazine photos. I scanned old black and white negatives from the 1920's and I don't know how it works, but it works. There are several self-correction modes for removing dust, lightening, darkening and different pixel sizes. The more you want, the longer it will take to scan. Instead of cropping a slide or negative, scan it to the full height and width of the image. After creating the image, return to the folder it was saved in and you can zoom in and crop it. The plastic negative tray can hold two strips up to 6-7 inches long and scan all images. Sometimes the scanning has trouble recognizing night scenes and it may not scan in full screen or it may miss some entirely. If an image was cropped by the camera because it was the last shot, you may need to manually select that part of the negative so it can be scanned. learned by trial and error or read the comments here or on dpreview. The unit is quite large and will take up a good portion of the table, I did not set it up at the moment due to room remodeling and lack of space. I wish there were fewer cables and wires to connect to make this device work. Sometimes the device freezes or freezes, and no matter what you press or do, all you do here is a "ping" sound. basically you have to shut everything down and restart the computer. This seems to happen more often when I scan more than r 15 images and don't save them in my files folder.

Pros
  • Excellent value for money
Cons
  • Large and bulky
