Thinner 1/4" cord makes it easier to negotiate tight turns. The reel body design allows for easy removal and storage without a lot of lint. I couldn't find a 1/2" hand snake from Getting Home Depot to get a few feet from the tub's overflow through the passageway I don't like using a powered snake as the force and vibration can be too great, damaging the drain pipe or splitting old sections of cast iron drain pipe I have reused this hand snake 3 times and it has worked well every time. The gloves are of surprisingly good quality and can be used over and over again to keep hands clean during snake operations. Haven't used the plastic hair hook strips yet, but saved for later.
