Like many knitters, I have hooks of all kinds: aluminum, plastic, steel, resin and even with bamboo handles that I have used for many years love. trying to find the right thing. I bought these hooks for my birthday, mainly because I thought they were very pretty. I've been using them actively for a little over a week and was pleasantly surprised. Visually, things are great. Expect lots of compliments as I've received from my crochet group!The color isn't over the top but reminds me of a piece of art.The hooks are surprisingly light compared to all other types of crochet hooks I've used.They feel good in the hand , glide through all types of yarn like a breeze without snagging or rubbing. The sizes they offer will cover 90% of your crochet needs a enough if you don't crochet or use jumbo yarn. These are some of the best crochet hooks I've ever used and who knows, I've spent a small fortune on crochet kits over the past 40 years. Everyone. I have arthritis in my hands and because the hooks are so light my hands don't hurt. It took me about 1/2 hour to get used to this new instrument from my hooks (aluminum with bamboo handles). But once I got the muscle memory, everything went smoothly. I also switched hooks in the middle of a project to make sure the crochet hook size was accurate and I can't tell where I stopped and started. That means the dimensions of these hooks are accurate. My only complaint, like others here, is that the hook sizes are not labeled. I really wanted to take them out of the plastic sleeve and put them in a fabric sleeve, which is nicer and easier to carry. In fact, I bought a special case for her only to turn it down. I think if you ever take more than one out of the pack or lose your size insert it will take some time to figure out which size is which. I wish there was a way to just cut or burn the side of the hook. I tried using a small sticker on the back of the hook but it didn't stick and I don't want to keep changing my new hooks. I called KnitPicks and gave them this review and they couldn't give me a good alternative without ruining the hook itself. In the meantime I'll buy a hook gauge from Susan Bates (http://www.amazon.com/gp/huc/view.html?ie=UTF8&newItems=C22DA2BXZB3IOP%2C1) in case I get lost! great crochet hooks! They're pretty, don't cling to anything, slide easily over all types of yarn, and will replace eleven billion of my other kits! They're not that much more expensive than other quality hooks at your local craft/yarn store (about $5 a hook here) and totally worth it. I have a feeling they will be a part of my world for a long time!
