Could confirm they rob bass. I have an s2000 and bought these to protect my door speakers from water damage and was hoping they would improve the overall sound, but in the end all I got was a little protection and minimal sound improvements. I started by moving the baffle to the right and immediately heard that the mids were better. but the bass sounded muffled and had an odd sound compared to the left side which had no baffles (I did this by switching from the right to the left speaker on the car stereo). I then cut a 2" hole in the back. and tested again, this time the bass was better but again not as good as listening to the left speaker without the baffle. provides some protection against water getting into the door. Hope that helps others
